experienced, independent nanny serving South Seattle families

Hello, I’m Jessica.
The kids call me Essie.
I'm an experienced, independent nanny based in South Seattle with a genuine love for working with kids and supporting the families who raise them. I've been around childcare my whole life. My mom ran a home daycare when I was growing up and I've been professionally caring for children since 2009, with a particular focus on infants and preschoolers.
My approach is Montessori-inspired and child-led. I take time to get to know each child — their temperament, their interests, where they are developmentally and build from there. Every child learns differently, and I think that deserves to be honored.
I'm CPR and First Aid certified, and I show up each day attentive, organized, and dependable. I work with families throughout South Seattle, Burien, and Normandy Park during daytime hours, and I'm open to West Seattle, Renton, and Federal Way for evenings and weekends.
Clear communication and mutual respect matter a lot to me. I work best with families who value childcare as a profession and appreciate a caregiver they can genuinely trust, with a little warmth and humor along the way.

I work with children from newborns through elementary school, with a particular focus on infants and preschoolers. That's where I have the most experience and honestly where I thrive most.
-
All three! I work with families who need regular part-time or full-time care, as well as those who need backup or occasional support. Date nights and weekend care are also available.

Rates vary depending on the type of care, schedule, and number of children. Reach out and we can talk through what works for your family's needs.
-
Yes. And I take safety and preparedness seriously. I stay current on certifications and best practices so families can feel confident their kids are in good hands.
-
Every day is shaped around the child. I follow their lead, mixing play, learning, outdoor time, meals, and rest in a way that feels natural and engaging rather than rigid. Routines matter, but so does flexibility.
-
I use calm, consistent redirection rather than punishment. I work within whatever boundaries parents set and always communicate openly if something comes up during the day.
-
If a child is sick, I ask that they stay home to rest and keep everyone healthy. If I'm unwell, I'll give as much notice as possible. Clear communication on both sides makes this easier for everyone.
-
I keep screen time minimal and intentional. My focus is on hands-on play, creativity, and outdoor time — screens are a last resort, not a default.
-
Absolutely. I'm happy to follow whatever meal and snack routines families have in place, including dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences. Just let me know what works for your household.
-
Yes, I'm happy to provide references from families I've worked with. Background check and insurance details can be discussed during our initial conversation.
